Membership FAQ's
The club will arrange for you to be interviewed by a committee member
On receipt of your application the Club will arrange for you to be interviewed by a member of the Membership Committee.
How can I play the course before deciding to apply for membership?
If you have not had the opportunity to play Northern, as a guest of a current member or on some other occasion, you should contact the General Manager. You will be required to pay green fees.
How long will I have to wait for membership?
NGC needs to balance the priorities of maximising membership with the responsibility of ensuring that members have reasonable access to the course and get value for their fees.
Therefore membership is capped and new members are only admitted when there are vacancies. Indicatively the NGC accepts between 35 and 60 new members each year. Whilst some vacancies will arise during the year, most occur in March of each year when membership renewals are due. The delay in obtaining membership is dependent on the number of people, and your current position on the waiting list. Enquiries about the current waiting list and your position can be made to the club at any time.

What happens if I defer my membership?
On some occasions prospective candidates are contacted when they reach the top of the waiting list and for private reasons they wish to defer taking up the offer of membership at that time. In the event that you are unable to take up membership when offered, you should contact the club and ask that your name be retained on the waiting list. It is important to know that in this event your position on the waiting list will be determined by the date you deferred rather than the date you applied.
If there are extenuating circumstances that mean you can’t take up the offer for a specified period your position on the waiting list will be adjusted by changing your application date to the date that you believe you will be able to take up the offer of membership. It is also important to note that when your name coincides with a vacancy the club will make every effort to contact you by phone, e-mail and/or post. If you do not respond your name will be removed from the waiting list. It is your responsibility to ensure that NGC has your current contact details. If at a later time you contact the club and want your name reinstated, your position on the waiting list will be determined by the date you re-contacted the club rather than your initial application date.
